How to create more LUCK in your career 🍀

Have you ever found a four-leaf clover?

They’re rare, but if you’re intentional, you can find them.

Some people call that luck. Others call it strategy. The difference is intention.

If you search for a four-leaf clover in the desert, you probably won’t find one. Coming up empty-handed doesn’t mean you’re unlucky, just that you chose the wrong place to look.

At the same time, if you spend an entire afternoon searching in a field full of clovers, chances are you’ll eventually find one, not because you’re lucky, but because you’re intentional.

This reminded me of something that happened after a coaching retreat a few years ago. I went for a reflective walk through downtown Carlsbad, CA when something caught my eye. A red, glass-blown heart was peeking out from a cluster of bushes.

It was one of dozens of hearts hidden throughout the city as part of a local week-long Heart Hunt.

I’ve since thrown away the note that accompanied it, but I kept the heart. It now sits on my desk as a reminder: I always find more “luck” when I actively seek it out.

In your career, that might look like:

🍀 Taking advantage of internal training or mentorship programs
🍀 Raising your hand for new opportunities at work
🍀 Nominating yourself for an industry award
🍀 Reaching out to someone you admire for an informational interview or conversation

You can wait for luck to happen, or you can create it.

Hit REPLY and share one area where you’re choosing to be more intentional with your career this week. I promise you that I read every single message.

Wishing you a luck-filled week!
