My hot take on TikTok coaches 📱

I spent the second half of last week in Long Beach, CA.

I partnered with The Myers-Briggs Company to facilitate a workshop for nearly a dozen career center professionals.

We explored how to use the Strong Interest Inventory to empower clients to uncover career paths that truly align with their interests.

As part of the certification faculty, I’m excited to see how these practitioners use tools and strategies like this with their clients and communities.

Now, my hot take: The rise of Instagram and TikTok “coaches” has turned much of the career support world into unqualified advice-giving.

This is a problem if you’re feeling stuck in your career. As I shared in Forbes, you need real strategies, not advice based on someone’s one-off experience.

When you’re feeling stuck, generic advice can make things worse and leave you more confused than when you started.

That’s where tools like the Strong, which require a certified practitioner to administer, come in. They open doors based on YOU and YOUR interests, not someone’s personal experience.

If you’re feeling stuck in your career, or simply want to understand yourself on a deeper level, the Strong is a fabulous place to start.
