The myth that holds leaders back 💡

When people hear “executive coaching,” they usually picture a struggling leader who got assigned a coach to fix a problem.

That’s a myth.

The best leaders I work with don’t wait until there’s an emergency. They bring in a coach before there’s a fire to put out.

I recently published a new article with the International Coaching Federation (ICF) covering 5 unexpected times it’s a good idea to hire an executive coach.

Here’s one: when you lack confidence.

Imposter syndrome doesn’t disappear when you hit the VP or C-suite level. If anything, I’ve watched it get much louder. As I shared in the article:

“When I first started coaching executives, I was surprised by just how many senior leaders seemed like they had it all together on the outside, but behind closed doors, felt like children dressed up in adult costumes.”

That feeling doesn’t mean there’s something wrong with you. In fact, it’s one of the most common reasons high-performing leaders decide to work with a coach.

A lack of confidence is just one of the five signs. In the article, I also cover four other situations where coaching may be valuable.

Have a fabulous week!
