True or false? šŸŽ²

I’m back from Las Vegas!

On Wednesday, I took the main stage at CultureCon West to deliver my workshop, Tame Your Imposter Syndrome: Unlock Real, Lasting Confidence.

While I was there, I also recorded a live interview for CultureCon’s podcast, which relaunches as WorkPossible in 2027. I’ll share the episode with you once it’s live.

I opened the workshop with a true or false question: Is writing out your accomplishments one of the best ways to tame imposter syndrome?

Nearly everyone in the room said true.

The answer is false.

I imagine a lot of you have heard this advice before. Much of it comes from influencers who share random tips instead of drawing on peer-reviewed research.

People who struggle with imposter syndrome can usually name their accomplishments, and they do it really well, so naming them isn’t the issue. The problem comes when they credit their wins to luck, timing, or their team instead of themselves.

You can’t outwork a belief, and you can’t list your way out of one. You must internalize your wins and name YOUR role in making them happen.

My suggestion is simple. Each workday, write down one of your accomplishments and what YOU did to make it happen. Importantly, you’re naming what you did, which is the part most people skip, and the part that actually tames imposter syndrome.

If you do so, by this time next year, you’ll have 250 examples you can use to update your resume and LinkedIn profile, prepare for interviews, and ask for a promotion or raise.

I break down what imposter syndrome is and how to work through it in my Forbes article.

Have a fabulous, confident week!
